happiness exists beyond the body and mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dhruva Maharaj regretted his material desires after realizing spiritual happiness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The soul hankers for pure love and principles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes we question why Krishna has put us in a situation, but later we understand it was for our good.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sense gratification and devotional service are directly opposed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One should remain a sincere servant of the Lord and believe in His mercy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator Points from Class<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Overcoming Material Desires and Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 When material desires arise in the mind, we become disturbed; when we give up material attachment, we become peaceful.<br>\u2022 Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura would say, \u201c<em>Jade pratistha sukhera bista.\u201d<\/em><br>\u2022 Once, a person was overtaken while driving a car. His wife said, \u201cSee, he has overtaken you.\u201d The man then drove very fast and overtook the other car. But his wife said, \u201cYou are foolish because we had to turn left 20 km back.\u201d Similarly, if we get absorbed in material competition, we will miss Krishna Consciousness.<br>\u2022 Srila Prabhupada received a letter saying, \u201cI will set up a printing press to distribute more books.\u201d Srila Prabhupada replied, \u201cDo not compete \u2014 cooperate.\u201d<br>\u2022 <strong>We must ensure that our Krishna Consciousness is not disturbed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Purity, Forgiveness, and Clarity of Goal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Once, a brahmana cursed Chaitanya Mahaprabhu that He would not get material happiness \u2014 and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was happy.<br>\u2022 Gopal Chapal tried to defame Srivas Pandit. He kept paraphernalia of demigod worship like non veg food at this house. Srivas Pandit saw paraphernalia such as non-vegetarian items placed there. He called everyone and said, \u201cYou think I am a great devotee, but I indulge in these activities.\u201d Everyone knew he was pure. Gopal Chapal was afflicted with leprosy. Later, he sought forgiveness from Srivas Pandit, and his leprosy was cured.<br>\u2022 <strong>Disturbance in the mind comes from a lack of a clear goal in life. If we are clear that we want to attain Krishna, everything becomes adjusted.<\/strong><br>\u2022 When we give up the desire for name, fame, and money, we can practice devotion peacefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Freedom from Envy and protection from Maya<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A crow was unhappy that he was black. He went to a cuckoo; the cuckoo said the parrot was happier. The parrot said the peacock was happier. The peacock said, \u201cI am caught and kept in a zoo, so how can I be happy.\u201d Crow thought I am better because I have freedom.<br>\u2022 <strong>We should learn to celebrate others\u2019 success. If we feel happy seeing others\u2019 happiness in Krishna Consciousness, we will also advance.<\/strong><br>\u2022 We are happy when Krishna is happy.<br>\u2022 Intelligent people do not envy others. When we cause pain to others, we ultimately suffer ourselves.<br>\u2022 To protect ourselves from Maya, we must pay a cost. Let us understand with COST abbreviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>COST:<\/strong><br>\u2022 <strong>C \u2013 Conviction:<\/strong> We must be firmly convinced to practice Krishna Consciousness.<br>\u2022 <strong>O \u2013 Open to superiors:<\/strong> Take guidance from superiors. If we do not open up to them, Maya will influence us.
