We decided to celebrate 25th<\/sup> Dec i.e. the birthday\nof Jesus Christ by distributing the transcendental teachings of Krishna, the\nSupreme Personality of Godhead.  Jesus Christ is the messenger of God<\/strong>,\nthe son of God. He appeared in this\nworld to free the suffering souls from the miseries of material existence and\nwanted us all to return to the kingdom of God. And Bhagavad Gita<\/strong>, one of\nthe most sacred and popular literatures of the world, informs us how we can attain liberation from material miseries and return\nback home back to godhead<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Srila Prabhupada started disseminating the unadulterated\nteachings of Gita then it immediately attracted the people all over the world. Be it a Hindu, a Muslim, a Christian or people\nfrom any other religion they started appreciating the message of Gita<\/strong>.  \u201cBhagavad – Gita As It Is\u201d  written by Prabhupada has widely got distributed\nin almost every country of the world, have got translated in almost all the\nlanguages of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Srila Prabhupada had a desire that everyone should read and\ndistribute this literature to as many people as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we thought that 25th<\/sup>\nDec being a Christmas holiday we should utilize our time in sharing the\nknowledge of Gita with other people. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were\ntotal 15 devotees and we planned to distribute books at Eco Park, Kolkata<\/strong>. It was estimated\nthat more than 1.5 lakh people<\/strong> will\ncome there on the festive season. We divided the task among ourselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parthasarathi Prabhu, Sayak Prabhu, Ashok Prabhu, Gaurav\nPrabhu had the responsibility of identifying the place where we could put our\ntable to distribute the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biswa Swaroop Prabhu Prabhu was to collect the books from the\nIskcon temple. He then came to my house so that we both can carry together\ntable and other books which I had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although we\nhad decided to start distributing books from 1:30 pm onwards but we could start\nonly by 3:45 p.m.<\/strong> It was becoming very difficult to find the venue. Biswa\nSwaroop Prabhu and I was driving on the\nroad for almost 2 hours searching for the venue<\/strong>.  We had initially thought of doing book\ndistribution at Gate No: 2 of Eco Park but there were barricades everywhere. We\nthen looked for Gate 3, Gate 4 and at Mother\u2019s Wax Museum. Gate 3 and Gate 4\nwas not a good venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mother\u2019s Wax museum appeared to be a good place but meanwhile\nthe devotees figured out that we can put up our book stall at Gate 1. But before taking the final decision we thought\nto analyse which would be a better venue \u2013 Gate 1 or Mother\u2019s Wax museum<\/strong>.  Biswa Swaroop Prabhu and I were at the Wax museum.\n Parthasarathi Prabhu and Sayak Prabhu\ncame from Gate 1 to see the crowd at Wax museum. After short discussion we decided\nto go to Gate 1 of Eco Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So finally\nafter hectic search we put up our book table at Gate 1<\/strong>.  Although the search was tiring but we got immediate reciprocation from Krishna<\/strong>.\nAs soon as we put our table we saw people coming and buying Bhagavad Gita and other\nVedic literatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirtan was\nplaying in the background<\/strong> and devotees especially Ashok Prabhu, Gaurav Prabhu, Sayak\nPrabhu and Parthasarathi Prabhu were making announcement on mike narrating the\nglories of Bhagavad Gita, stating how Gita\u2019s wisdom words can transform their\nlives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashok\nPrabhu convinced a young boy to buy SSR<\/strong> \u2013 Science of Self\nRealization.  Parthasarathi Prabhu immediately distributed one Bhagavad Gita<\/strong>. Gaurav Prabhu took the books and went\ndirectly into the crowds<\/strong> to distribute the books and was able to convince people\nto buy it. Sayak Prabhu got immediate\nsuccess<\/strong> and started distributing the books. Swarnavo Prabhu along with his\nfather, Biswa Swaroop Prabhu, also started distributing. Swarnavo Prabhu was able to convince one of his teachers<\/strong> who had\ncome to Eco Park to have Bhagavad Gita. Bijit\nPrabhu and Parthasarathi Prabhu\u2019s father (HG Chinmoy Gokul Prabhu) also immediately\ngot into the service<\/strong> of distributing the books. Later on Subramaniam Prabhu\njoined with his wife (Padmalaya mataji) and son, Satyavrat. My parents also\njoined.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Service for\nthe pleasure of Krishna has to be always followed by delicious prasadam. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we had planned about it in advance. Priyanka Sukla mataji had prepared Bhel, Padmalaya mataji had prepared\nPakoda, Ashok Prabhu brought sweets.<\/strong> While we were doing book distribution my wife (Kanchana Madhavi) was busy\npreparing Veg Biryani<\/strong>. We had thought after hectic day of service devotees   should not\ngo back home to cook dinner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I went to my house with Biswa Swaroop Prabhu to pick my wife\nand of course prasadam. We got terribly stuck in traffic jam. My house is just\n2.5 km from Eco Park but it took almost 1 hour to reach my house. We immediately\npicked the prasadam and left for the venue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was\nalready 7:30 p.m. but devotees were still enthusiastically distributing the\nbooks.  Now we thought that everyone\nshould take prasadam.<\/strong>  So everyone sat\ntogether to relish the delicious prasadam. It\nwas a spiritual picnic for all of us. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My wife who was at home cooking immediately began\ndistributing the books. And she was able to inspire people to take Bhagavad\nGita. One lady was eager to take the\nbooks but her husband was too adamant so she gave her at discounted rate. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This we observed that people\nare ready to spend their money in gratifying their senses<\/strong>, in watching non\nsensical movies, eating in restaurants but they feel great pain in spending few bucks to buy the sacred books<\/strong>. This\nis just one time purchase but it can transform their lives forever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is\nalso true that some are very eager<\/strong> to take the books. As a student of\nGita and as follower of Srila Prabhupada we\njust have to keep on trying.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a great day for all of us. It was the best way to absorb ourselves in service of the Lord and serve\nthe humanity by gifting them Bhagavad Gita<\/strong> which has transformed the lives\nof millions of people since time immemorial. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
