{"id":7234,"date":"2020-02-20T21:13:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T15:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/discoverursupersoul.com\/2012\/10\/unique-position-of-lord-shiva\/"},"modified":"2020-02-20T21:13:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-20T15:43:00","slug":"unique-position-of-lord-shiva","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/minivetsystem.com\/iskcon\/unique-position-of-lord-shiva\/","title":{"rendered":"The Unique Position of Lord Shiva"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\" src=\"https:\/\/minivetsystem.com\/iskcon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lord-Shiva-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1677\" srcset=\"https:\/\/minivetsystem.com\/iskcon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lord-Shiva-1.jpg 512w, https:\/\/minivetsystem.com\/iskcon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Lord-Shiva-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord\nShiva has a very unique and significant position in the cosmic manifestation.\nIn fact <strong>Lord Shiva is the most powerful,\nsecond only to Lord Vishnu.<\/strong> Shiva is an expansion of Lord Krishna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Revealed\nscriptures explain that <strong>Krishna has 64\nqualities<\/strong>.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord\nBrahma posses 78% of these qualities and <strong>Lord\nShiva possesses 84% of these qualities<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since living entities are also like Brahma so they also possess 78% of these qualities but in a lesser extent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>None\nof them possess all 100%.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Srila Prabhupada explains,\n\u201cThe\n<strong>living being can never possess\nattributes like Shiva, Vishnu or Lord Krishna<\/strong>. A living being can become\ngodly by developing the seventy-eight-percent transcendental attributes in\nfullness, but he can never become a God like Shiva, Vishnu or Krishna. He can\nbecome a Brahma in due course: &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/vanisource.org\/wiki\/SB_1.3.28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.28 purport<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Shiva has connection with the material nature but Lord Vishnu (or Lord Krishna) is transcendental to material nature. <strong>The position of Lord Shiva is very beautiful explained in Brahma \u2013 Samhita (Verse 45)<\/strong>, \u201cJust as milk is transformed into curd by the action of acids, but yet the effect curd is neither same as, nor different from, its cause, viz., milk, so I adore the primeval Lord Govinda of whom the state of Shambhu is a transformation for the performance of the work of destruction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scriptures like Srimad \u2013 Bhagavatam, Brahma \u2013 samhita, Padma \u2013 Purana etc. explains the position of Lord Shiva in this universe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Srimad \u2013 Bhagavatam (S.B) (12.13.16) states <strong><em>vaisnavanam yatha sambhu<\/em><\/strong><em> i.e.<\/em>Lord\nShiva is the best of the Vaishnavas, the devotee of Lord Krishna.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>S.B (6.3.20) informs us that <strong>Lord Shiva is one of the 12 Mahajanas<\/strong>,\nthe authorities on Vaisnava philosophy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In S.B 4.24.76, Lord Shiva states that <strong>if anyone reads his Rudra Geeta prayer <\/strong>then he will invoke the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Krishna. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lord Shiva tells his wife that he <strong>drank\nhala hala<\/strong>, the poison which came out during the churning of the ocean, <strong>to\nplease Lord Vishnu<\/strong>.(S.B. 8.7.40)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Padma Purana Shiva tells his wife Sati,\u201d<strong>sri rama rama rameti rame rame manorame sahasra namah tat tulyam rama nama varanane<\/strong>.\u201d Lord Shiva clearly speaks here that he <strong>relishes chanting the names of Lord Rama.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lord Shiva got bewildered when he saw the\nfemale form of Lord Vishnu, Mohini Murti. Lord Shiva later reveals that he is <strong>unable\nto completely understand the illusory energy of Lord Krishna<\/strong>. This is\nstated in S.B. (8.12.10). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When Krishna displayed his Universal form\nthen Arjuna said: \u201cMy dear Lord Krishna, I see assembled in Your body, all the\ndemigods and various other living entities. <strong>I see Brahma sitting on the\nlotus flower, as well as Lord Shiva<\/strong> and all the sages and divine serpents.\u201d\nBhagavad-gita (11.15).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;During Lord Krishna\u2019s pastimes in Vrindavan, Lord Shiva wanted to participate in the rasa \u2013 lila dance along with the cowherd damsels and <strong>he desired to become a gopi.<\/strong> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>(Reference: Self \u2013 Manager by H.G. Radheshyam\nDas, President Iskcon Pune)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Braham\nSamhita (verse 10) clearly establishes that<strong>\nLord Shiva derives his power from Lord Vishnu,<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe person embodying the material causal principle,\nviz., the great lord of this mundane world [Maheshvara] Shambhu, in the form of\nthe male generating organ, is joined to his female consort, the limited energy\n[Maya] as the efficient causal principle. The Lord of the world\nMaha-Vishnu is manifest in him by His subjective portion in the form of His\nglance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord\nShiva is <strong>neither an avatara nor avesha\nand is also not in between them<\/strong>. Lord Shiva is the greatest demigod, even\ngreater than Lord Brahma. He is the <strong>spiritual\nmaster of the entire universe<\/strong>.
