Generally, people go on pilgrimage to purify themselves and attain freedom from sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Lord Balarama is the first expansion of Krishna, he is free from all sins. <strong>In fact, by taking his shelter people become free of all the sins.\u00a0 Then what was the need for him to go to these holy places?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lord Balarama is Adi guru, the first spiritual master. And the s<strong>piritual master teaches many important lessons to the people<\/strong> by his personal example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, by visiting the dhams (holy places) <strong>Lord Balarama is teaching us the necessity of going on pilgrimage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it is not just about going to these holy places, but it is also equally important to know what to do when we are in these sacred places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Three activities of Lord Balarama<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We see that Lord Balarama primarily did three things in dhams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">1. He took bath in the holy rivers.<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>He bathed in rivers like Kau\u015bik\u012b, Saray\u016b, Gomat\u012b, Ga\u1e47\u1e0dak\u012b, Vip\u0101\u015b\u0101, \u015ao\u1e47a,Ganges,Ve\u1e47\u0101,Pamp\u0101, Bh\u012bmarath\u012b, K\u0101ver\u012b and in the seven branches of the God\u0101var\u012b River. He also went to to Pray\u0101ga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">2. He gave charity<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At R\u0101me\u015bvaram, he <strong>gave ten thousand cows<\/strong> to br\u0101hma\u1e47as in charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">3. He associated with the saintly people<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During his pilgrimage he met great sages like Pulaha \u1e5a\u1e63i &amp; Agastya \u1e5a\u1e63i. He offered prayers to Agastya \u1e5a\u1e63i and got blessings from the great sage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, Lord Balarama teaches us what activities we should do when we are in the holy places<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the footsteps of <a href=\"https:\/\/minivetsystem.com\/iskcon\/my-prayer-to-lord-balarama-on-balarama-jayanti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Lord Balarama<\/mark><\/a>, we should also take out time to visit holy places. And <strong>also perform above three activities which will purify us from the sins<\/strong> and take us closer to Krishna. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">\u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam 10.79,16-18<\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;There at Setubandha [R\u0101me\u015bvaram] Lord Hal\u0101yudha gave br\u0101hma\u1e47as ten thousand cows in charity. He then visited the K\u1e5btam\u0101l\u0101 and T\u0101mrapar\u1e47\u012b rivers and the great Malaya Mountains. <strong>In the Malaya range Lord Balar\u0101ma found Agastya \u1e5a\u1e63i sitting in meditation. <\/strong>After bowing down to the sage, the <strong>Lord offered him prayers and then received blessings from him.<\/strong> Taking leave from Agastya, He proceeded to the shore of the southern ocean, where He saw Goddess Durg\u0101 in her form of Kany\u0101-kum\u0101r\u012b. Next He <strong>went to Ph\u0101lguna-t\u012brtha and bathed in the sacred Pa\u00f1c\u0101psar\u0101 Lake<\/strong>, where Lord Vi\u1e63\u1e47u had directly manifested Himself.
