Let us see what the scriptures say about having a Tulasi plant at home and what benefits we get by worshipping her.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Skanda Purana says that if one worships Tulasi\nthen one attains the same result which one attains by worshipping Saligrama\nSila on sravana dvadasi. Text 106<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Garuda Purana says that if one is worshipping\nTulasi then one will attain the same result which one obtains by observing fast\non Janmashtami or by honouring the fruit, dhatri. Text 107 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Garuda Purana quoting the demigods say that by\nworshipping Tulasi Maharani one gets the same result which one gets by bathing\nin Prayaga or leaving his body in Varanasi.&nbsp;\nText 108<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Agastya Samhita states that if one is worshipping Tulasi Devi properly then she fulfills the desires of all the men and women of the four varnas and ashramas.&nbsp; Text 109<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Simply by planting Tulasi Devi, watering her,\nseeing her or touching her purifies one\u2019s existence. Upon being worshipped by\nlove and devotion she fulfils all the desires. Text 110<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If one is circumambulating Tulasi Devi\nregularly and also bowing down to her regularly then that person becomes free\nfrom all the sins. Text 111<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Narada Purana in the Yajnadhvaja&#8217;s story it\nis stated, \u201cA person&#8217;s fortune increases everyday if one begins worshipping Tulasi\ndaily in their house.&#8221; Text 112<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There is a conversation in Padma Purana\nbetween Devaduta and Vikundala wherein it is said, \u201cIn each Dvadasi all the\ndemigods headed by Lord Brahma reverentially worship Tulasi forest.&#8221; Text\n113<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A person who glorifies Tulsi with beautiful\nprayers for sure becomes dear to devtas, pitas and human beings. Text 114<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Skanda Purana categorically says that in this\nage of Kali yuga Lord Hari who is the controller of the universes and the\ndemigods is pleased only by Tulsi and by nothing else. Text 115.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Kali \u2013 yuga, Lord Krishna avoids staying in\nholy places and in sacred mountains but prefers staying in Tulasi forest. Text\n116<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A person for sure attains Lord\u2019s supreme abode\nif he plants a Tulsi forest or even sees her. Text 117<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A place is like a graveyard if in that place\nthere are no devotees of Vishnu (Vaisnavas), Lord Vishnu\u2019s deity, fruit bearing\ndhatri tree and no sacred Tulsi plant. Text 118<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Even Yamaraj or his order carriers,\nYamaduttas, may be displeased with a person but they cannot do anything to him\nif he has planted Tulsi for the pleasure of Lord Krishna. Text 119<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A person\u2019s thousands of offenses are forgiven\nby the merciful Lord if he plants Tulasi in temples or holy places. A place\nbecomes sacred and dear to Lord Vishnu if Tulasi is planted in that place. Text\n120 &amp; 121<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A person can please the three worlds by simply\noffering water to Tulsi. Text 122<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lord Brahma says to sage Narada that \u201cShraddha\nceremony to please pitas (forefathers) should be done in Tulasi forest.\u201d Text\n124<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Brahma tells Narada, \u201cPinda offering to the\nforefathers should be done in a place where seeds of Tulasi have fallen. This\nensures the success of the shraddha ceremony.\u201d Text 125 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By planting her, seeing her, hearing about\nher, remembering her, serving her, watering her, bowing to her, serving her,\ntouching her one gets auspicious results. Text 126<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If one worships Tulasi Devi as mentioned above\nthen he becomes fortunate to reside in the kingdom of Lord Hari for ten billion\nyugas. Text 127<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>As soon as a new root appears in the sacred\nTulasi plant, the person who has planted the sacred tree in Kali yuga earns ten\nbillion pious credit. Text 128<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The benefits which one get by planting the\nsacred plant is enormous. As a new branch or a new twig or a new seed or a new\nflower or a new fruit grows on Tulasi Devi, the person who had the fortune of\nplanting the plant gets several pious descendants. Text 129<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The holy Purana further glorifies the person\nwho worships the Tulasi plant by saying that \u201call those who were born in his\nfamily or who is going to be born in his family from the beginning of the kalpa\nand extending up to a thousand yugas in future gets to reside in the kingdom of\nLord Hari.\u201d&nbsp; Text 130<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Avanti Khanda says that those who plant Tulasi\nand offer her leaves at the lotus feet of Lord Hari becomes extremely fortunate\nin this age of Kali yuga. Text 131<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the age of Kali yuga if someone plants Tulasi,\nglorifies her, remembers her, baths her, gives her in charity, offers her to\nKrishna\u2019s lotus feet and after offering eats the remnants of the sacred leaves\nthen all his sins are burned. Text 132<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Kasi Khanda, Yamaraja instructs his\nmessengers, the Yamaduttas, \u201cPlease stay away from a person who chants the\nnames of Tulasi, decorates himself with Tulasi or who has protected a Tulasi\nforest.\u201d Text 133<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Kasi Khanda, Dhruva \u2013 carita it is further\nmentioned that, \u201cThe servants of Yamaraj, the Yamaduttas, will never enter a\nhouse where Tulasi is worshipped reverentially daily.\u201d Text 134<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Padma Purana there is a conversation\nbetween Devaduta and Vikundala where it is said, \u201cA person who has planted a\nTulasi never ever sees Yamaraj or his messengers. Tulasi forest is so glorious\nthat she removes all sins of a person and fulfils all the desires.\u201d Text 135<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Just by keeping the sacred Tulasi plant at\nhome, the home gets transformed into a holy place. Yamaraj or his servants\nnever ever enter such a house. Text 136<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Those who plant the sacred Tulasi plant, stay\nfor each of its seed and its leaf, in Devaloka, the heavenly planet, for a\nthousand years. Text 137<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The forefathers (pitas) becomes so happy when\nthey smell the scent of Tulasi. Happily riding on Garuda, the king of birds,\nthey go to the kingdom of Lord Hari. Text 138 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bathing in the holy Ganges, seeing the river\nNarmada and touching a sacred Tulasi leaf are three equal pious activity. Text\n139<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When a person serves sacred Tulasi by planting\nher, watering her, touching her, seeing her, protecting her, worshipping her\nthen it burns all his sins which he might have committed with his body, minds\nand words. Text 140<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tulasi plant is so glorious that her single\nbranch is equal to hundred pippala trees or thousand mango trees. Text 141<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When a Vaisnava plants Tulasi Devi then for\nhundred thousand yugas he enjoys in Devaloka. Text 142<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Padma Purana, Vaisakha mahatmya it is\nmentioned, \u201cAll the holy places including Puskara, all the holy rivers\nincluding Ganges, all the deities including the deity of Lord Krishna, the\nSupreme Lord reside in every single Tulasi leaf.\u201d Text 143<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Just like Haritaki which cures bodily disease\nsimilarly the sacred Tulasi swiftly removes all kinds of sufferings, diseases,\nsins and poverty. Text 144<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When the forefathers are given the remnants of\nTulasi and sacred water then they are so pleased. It is like they have been\noffered water for a period of ten thousand years. Text 146<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Just like it\u2019s an offense to consider Lord\nVasudeva who resides in Vaikuntha an ordinary person or to consider saligrama\nsila an ordinary stone similarly it is an offense to consider Tulasi as an\nordinary tree. Tulasi Devi is an incarnation of Lakshmi, goddess of fortune,\nand she has appeared by the will of Krishna as a tree in this material world\nfor our benefit. In fact, those who plant her, worship her, sings her glories,\nsees her, touches her then she mercifully destroys all the sins of those\nperson. Text 148 &#8211; 150<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Agastya \u2013 Samhita, it is mentioned that \u201cAs\nSita Devi is so dear to Lord Ram, the Supreme Lord of the three worlds\nsimilarly Tulasi Devi who purifies the three world is also dear to Lord Ram.\nText 151<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When Lord Ram was exiled to the forest he\nstayed with his consort, Sita Devi, in a forest which was filled with sacred\nTulasi trees and hundreds of beautiful flowers. Text 152<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A single Tulasi plant is so potent that it\npurifies all the places which is within 2 miles. It is as if the entire area\nwithin two miles have been inundated with sacred Ganges water. Text 153<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Those who leave their body near a Tulasi plant\ndo not have to go to hell. In fact, they are so fortunate that they go to the\nspiritual abode. Text 154<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Those who practice austerity religiously and those who see the sacred Tulasi as soon as they open their eyes in the morning become from that very moment from all the sins which they might have committed in days and nights. <\/li><li><\/li><li>In fact, it is also important that the person should have taken a vow not to again commit any sins. Its not that the person may intentionally continue committing sin and expect that their sins will be abolished if they see the sacred Tulasi plant early morning. Text 155<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Garuda Purana it is mentioned, \u201cO great\nGaruda, son of Vinata, those who plant Tulasi Devi attains liberation for\nsure.\u201d Text 156<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cO Garuda, the king of birds, those who plant\nTulasi at home or in a forest or in a beautiful garden has done a wonderful\ndeed. Its akin to creating seven worlds.\u201d Text 157<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u201cIf a person takes rest in a Tulasi forest\nthen he becomes freed from all the sins for sure which he would have committed\nfor ten million births.\u201d Text 158 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If a person circumambulates a Tulasi forest\nwhile chanting the thousand names, then he attains the result equivalent to ten\nthousand yajnas. Text 159<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hari Bhakti sudhodaya says that Lord Vishnu\nalways stays in Tulasi forest hoping that some devotee will offer him an\nunbroken Tulasi leaf. Text 160 <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Narada Purana glorifies the worship of Tulasi\nby saying that \u201cIf one chants the names of Ganga then Ganga destroys all his\nsins. But when someone chants the holy names of Lord Hari then Tulasi Devi\ngrants him the gift of devotional service.\u201d Text 161<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lord Hari prefers to be in that place where\nthere is a lotus forest or forest of Tulasi or at the place where Puranas are\nread.
